Nareg Ashekian is a Certified Athletic Trainer with a master’s degree in Athletic Training from California Baptist University. He also holds certifications as a corrective exercise specialist & certified ergonomic specialist, with extensive experience working in sports medicine departments at the professional level. Mr. Ashekian leads AASMC’s outreach committee, which works on projects to increase the value of education and practice of sports medicine within local schools and athletic organizations to students, athletes, and coaches. In 2019, he participated in AASMC’s mission trip to Armenia, presenting to sports medicine providers on the topic of concussion management. Outside of his role as an injury prevention specialist, Mr. Ashekian works with several professional athletes providing manual therapy and mobility routines as they prepare for their athletic competitions.

Mary Tavoukjian
Mrs. Tavoukjian is a registered nurse with a passion for health and wellness within the Armenian-American community. She currently works on the adult surgical and stroke unit at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, CA, where she holds various leadership positions including being an active member of the in-unit practice council and working as a charge nurse. After attending a number of youth sports medicine conferences, Mrs. Tavoukjian quickly realized the importance of an inter-professional approach in the treatment and management of acute and chronic general medical conditions, environmental illness, neurological injury, and emergency situations that may arise within youth athletic participation. Mrs. Tavoukjian hopes that through the AASMC, she can do her part to help improve health practices within the local Armenian-American community, youth athletics, and abroad in Armenia.
Carlos Isaac Roel
Carlos I. Roel is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He brings to the Armenian American Sports Medicine Coalition experience in providing rehabilitation, athletic training, and first responder services to all levels of adapted and able-bodied athletes and non-athletes. After receiving his doctorate in Physical Therapy, Dr. Roel completed a residency in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) at the Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center in Vallejo, California. During his training in the PNF residency, he worked with individuals suffering from neurologic and/or multi-trauma conditions. Years later, he completed the Physical Therapy Fellowship in Movement and Performance through Azusa Pacific University. There, he learned new advances in the clinical application of efficient movement, exercise science, and motor control.
Dr. Roel is currently on the medical support team and travels globally providing services for the US Soccer Federation’s Paralympic Team, USA Volleyball’s Beach Teams, USA Fencing, and Kreiswirth Sports Medicine/International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. His job is to provide physical rehabilitation and emergency response treatments (Example treatments: fractures, lacerations, dislocations, head injuries, musculoskeletal tissue injuries, cardiopulmonary injuries, gastro-intestinal injuries, etc.) to the adapted and able-bodied athletes.
Outreach and educating are important aspects of Dr. Roel’s career. He is on the Board of Directors for the Armenian American Sports Medicine Coalition and has traveled to Armenia for multiple medical missions. If he is not in the clinic or working internationally, Dr. Roel is involved in the education and training of future health care professionals as an adjunct faculty, guest lecturer, or clinical instructor for multiple universities in Southern California.
Dr. Maxim Moradian
Dr. Moradian is a physiatrist trained in sports medicine, interventional pain management, and spine care. He is triple board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), Pain Medicine, and non-operative Sports Medicine. Dr. Moradian grew up in Glendale, California, where he graduated as a scholar-athlete from Herbert Hoover High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry (minor in Spanish) from Occidental College (Oxy) in Eagle Rock, CA. Upon graduation from Oxy, Dr. Moradian attended medical school at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Following residency, he completed a dual fellowship in interventional pain management and spine care, and sports medicine at Orthopedic & Spine Specialists (affiliated with Sinai Hospital of Baltimore), in York, Pennsylvania. He is the owner and president of California Sports and Spine Institute and Interventional Spine Care and Orthopedic Regenerative Experts. In his free time, Dr. Moradian enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and watching sports. He has a passion for youth athletics and educating athletes about injury prevention and concussion management.
Tevan Asaturi
Due to his obscure upbringing, Tevan Asaturi took an interest in finance from a very early age. He is well versed in the realm of both finance and life and uses his expertise to challenge people’s philosophy of growth and help them create an optimal future. Tevan is the Managing Director of Asaturi, where he provides strategic solutions to people and businesses who know they deserve more. His experience includes providing consult for Fortune clients, managing portfolios for the rich and the poor, founding non-profit and for-profit companies, and contributing through ongoing charitable work.
Tevan earned his MBA and certification in Technology Commercialization from the University of Southern California, certification in Advanced Analytics and AI from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from the University of California, Irvine.
Tamara Enfiedjian
Throughout her teenage years, Dr. Enfiedjian participated in Armenian Church Youth Organization and functioned as various roles on the board. Her studies lead her to College of the Sequoias, where she pursued her interests in athletic training. She became certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association in 2003. Dr. Enfiedjian continued her education at California State University, Fresno earning her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology as a stepping-stone towards a graduate degree. Chapman University drew Dr. Enfiedjian to Southern California, so she could earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2006. The following year, she chose to enter a residency program to better her clinical skills in Orthopedics. Dr. Enfiedjian became an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 2008. Dr. Enfiedjian’s life, thus far, is a reflection of her love for the Armenian Community and Church, medicine, education, and the outdoors. One of her most enlightening experiences is a pilgrimage to Armenia for the 1700th anniversary of Armenia adopting Christianity. Her most fulfilling involvements include providing athletic training services for the community college, specifically the football team and her daily interactions in teaching and guiding people rehabilitate their physical injuries.
